✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • Well, that all depends on what you are looking for. Do you want an hour-long document with clean audio broken into chapters?

Do you want a more polished production with musical cues and additional narration? It will take longer and involve more interaction.

What about a 90-minute documentary film with interviews, family photos, and a score? Let’s talk about that!

  • Need more time? No problem. We can change the length of your interview on the day of the shoot. But with our preinterview, we will have a solid idea of how long it will take to get your whole story on tape.

  • I’ve heard so many people say, “Why would anyone want to hear what I have to say? I’m not very interesting.” I have found all of them to be wrong. Everyone has stories to tell, and sharing them with your family is not only interesting but also an essential piece of history. If you are struggling with what to talk about, don’t worry. We provide a creative and inspiring list of prompts and questions to get the memories and storytelling ideas flowing.

  • Absolutely! While we are located in Northern California, we can record remotely. We use a third-party website called www.Riverside.fm - It’s free and easy to use and only requires Google Chrome as your web browser. We will provide detailed instructions if you decide to go the remote route.

  • We offer digital downloads and custom USB drives. Once you have approved the final edit, we will send you a link to the final file. Once you complete your payment, the file will be available for download and for streaming. We will also mail you a USB drive with your files.

  • Deciding to archive the voices and stories of loved ones is bold and rewarding. However, one of the lasting memories may well be the search for meaningful stories when shared with family or a close group of friends. We recommend you take your time with the prompts, dig through family photos, and try to relive those memories together. Having a Sound Legacy audio document is a beautiful gift, but remembering what it was like to work together on creating it is its own delightful part of the puzzle.
